ARMB Adopts Updated Recommendations on DCR Healthcare and Disability Coverage
At its March 18-19, 2026 meeting, the Alaska Retirement Management Board (ARMB) adopted several updated resolutions related to Defined Contribution Retirement (DCR) healthcare eligibility and disability coverage. These updates reflect actuarial valuations as of June 30, 2025, and refine earlier recommendations previously shared with stakeholders.
The Board approved:
• Resolution 2025-02A, updating recommended changes to Teachers’ Retirement System and Public Employees’ Retirement System eligibility for retirement and medical benefits.
• Resolution 2025-21A, revising the proposal for a one-time transfer of certain Health Reimbursement Arrangement forfeiture-derived resources to support a 20-year retiree medical eligibility option.
• Resolution 2025-22A, updating recommended improvements to disability and healthcare coverage for disabled DCR members.
• Resolution 2026-01, outlining the combined fiscal impact of implementing both healthcare eligibility and disability coverage improvements simultaneously, recognizing that both initiatives draw on the same surplus.
These actions provide updated fiscal and actuarial information to support ongoing discussions about improving healthcare and disability benefits for Alaska’s DCR members.
